Are your current curtains or blinds looking a bit worn? Would you like to give your Dartford home a facelift while adding value simultaneously? If so, interior window shutters are the answer.
With their elegant, minimalist lines, shutters will transform the look and feel of any room in the house. Whether you want to create a focal point or prefer a style of shutters that blends into the background, shutters are a perfect alternative to curtains. As they are fixed to the windows and will last for decades.
Practical and straightforward to maintain, shutters are suitable for moisture-rich rooms like the bathroom or kitchen. Our shutters come in a wide range of colours and styles, including tier on tier, full height, tracked, cafe style, and patio door shutters.
We have installed shutters in numerous Dartford homes, offices, and cafes during the last 25 years. It is impressive how swapping outdated curtains and blinds for interior window shutters can completely transform a space.
If your window coverings have lost their appeal, we suggest you look at replacing them with shutters. Bright, airy, and forever stylish, window shutters are the ideal solution to bring style and sophistication into your home.
Shutters require extraordinarily little maintenance. Dusting them twice a month and occasionally wiping them with a damp cloth keeps them looking as pristine as the day we fitted them for decades.
We can produce shutters for windows and doors of all shapes or sizes, including bay windows, windows with unusual shapes, or very expansive French windows. We have yet to come across a window shape or design that defeats us!
Interior shutters offer excellent light control and privacy by way of movable panels and louvres, allowing you to meet your sun and privacy preferences perfectly.
We have installed shutters in many Dartford homes, from modern terraced homes in Ashmore Close to the large detached houses on Dartford Road to cafes in Market Street; there’s a shutter style to suit every home, business, and room type.
Engineering our shutters to perfection, over the years we have built a solid reputation for ourselves in the Kent window décor industry and produce the highest quality custom-made shutters. Durability, versatility, elegance, and innovation are just some of the characteristics of our product.

Dartford is in the northwest of Kent, around 18 miles southeast of London. It is on the River Darent, which flows into the River Thames.
In the 19th and 20th centuries, Dartford developed a reputation for manufacturing and industry. The town is home to Europe’s largest paper recycling mill and has a long-established association with the car industry. In 1911, the first ever Ford factory outside of North America was built in Dartford and the company still has a significant presence in the town.
Shutters are a popular choice among homeowners in Dartford. Shutters are an attractive and practical way to enhance the appearance of your property while also providing privacy and insulation.
Plantation shutters are one of the most popular types of shutters in Dartford. They have adjustable louvres that can be opened and closed to control the light and air entering a room. Plantation shutters are available in various materials, including wood, vinyl, and MDF.
Solid shutters are another option for homeowners in Dartford. These shutters are made up of solid panels you can open and close to block out light and noise. Solid shutters are a good choice for bedrooms, providing a dark and peaceful sleeping environment.
Cafe-style shutters are a stylish option. These shutters cover only the lower half of a window, providing privacy while still allowing light to enter the room. Cafe-style shutters are often used in kitchens and living rooms, where they can add a touch of elegance and charm.
Interior shutters are one of the most energy-efficient window coverings available. They help reduce temperature loss in the winter and lower heat gain in the summer. Shutters are outstanding insulators as they trap the air between the shutter and window.
According to UK government studies, a home loses about 30% of its heating energy through the windows. All types of window coverings will reduce energy loss, but the amount saved depends on the type of covering.
Installing window shutters is an outstanding way to limit heat loss. When the panels and louvres are shut, the heat loss via the window is reduced by over 50%. When combined with double glazing, this increases to around 62%.
Shutters are a splendid way to add an extra layer of insulation over windows—the solid design and materials used to make shutters provide much better insulation than blinds or curtains.
We are always willing to bring shutter samples to demonstrate to you in your own home, but if you want to know exactly how specific types of shutters look and work, you can visit one of our two Kent high street showrooms. We have premises in Chislehurst and Sidcup, where you can view and try out any of our models, such as tier-on-tier, cafe-style shutters, Victorian solid panel shutters, and many more.
Interior window shutters help improve the security of a home. When they are closed, passers-by can’t see into your room, which reduces the temptation that could occur if you have valuable items on display.
However, as with all wooden commodities, shutters will not resist a concentrated attempt to break through them.
The main distinction between shutters and blinds is how they are fixed to the windows. Blinds are connected to the inner part of the frame or, more frequently, above the window. Shutters are attached to the window or the door frame itself. Because of this, shutters are far more robust than blinds, and can last for decades. Shutters also continue to look superb, whereas blinds are more likely to become discoloured and faded after a few years.
With tutorials on every topic under the sun freely available on YouTube, it is easy to learn how to do many jobs around the home that in the past we may have hired a professional to complete. However, there are exemptions; some jobs are just too time-consuming, challenging, or complicated to do alone. One job in that category is DIY shutter installation.
Though it sounds simple, getting the precise window measurements required to install shutters can be complex. There’s a lot of fluctuation in window shapes and sizes that influence how you should measure them for shutters. Even square windows are rarely ever square, invariably the four sides never have the same measurement.
Another issue for DIY shutters is buying the right style. As with the variation in window sizes, frame thickness, etc. there are many choices when it comes to shutter styles. If you are inexperienced, you may buy shutters in a material, style, or with a frame that doesn’t match well with the room or window.
The short answer is that successful shutter installation requires precision, and a small error in the beginning can ruin the entire job. Furthermore, shutters can be physically challenging to install, depending on your size, their weight and the window’s position.
Hiring a professional company may cost more than going the DIY route, but the work is guaranteed. If something goes wrong when you try to install shutters yourself, you may not be covered for any damage incurred to your windows or shutters.
Most interior shutters on the market are made from timber, engineered wood, synthetic wood, or uPVC.
One question buyers frequently ask is how much light will come in through the shutters. This is important to shift workers and light sleepers, who may have problems sleeping when too much light enters. Interior shutters are designed to block a notable degree of light from entering a room.
However, window shutters alone do not provide total blackout, as nothing can achieve total blackout if a room has windows. Some light will consistently find a way through. Even with heavy drapes and blackout blinds, some light may still enter through gaps.
Shutters are one of the more effective window coverings for controlling light. Compared to curtains, Venetian, or roller blinds, shutters are the best option for blocking daylight.
It is possible to combine shutters with blackout blinds, which will allow you to sleep well no matter the time of day.
Our superbly designed shutters make a plain window or door simply irresistible
This was a recent installation of ours in Dartford Kent which we thought was a particularly interesting fitting of ours.
The customer was contemplating with leaving the two windows bare in the bathroom as they did not want to spoil the exposed brick feature wall at the back of there bathroom. However, they were sceptical of leaving a bathroom without any privacy measures at the window.
Our surveyors had a detailed chat discussion with the customers on all the different options for this particular window and the customer decided on going with a hidden tilt rod mechanism and pure white, to stay with the whole character of the room. We feel this was the right decision and the outcome was just perfect.
By supplying the highest quality shutters, we have transformed homes all over Kent during the last 25 years. We’re not put off by a challenge – even if your home has very oddly shaped or positioned windows, we are confident we can provide you with a solution.
“Diamond shutters are committed to an eco friendly environment and all the cardboard we use through our manufacturing process is fully recyclable.”
